BMX racing is so much more than just riding around the track. Becoming a member of the Park Orchards BMX Club entitles your family to participate in club race days (or Clubbies), use the club’s facilities and equipment, access coaching help for your family of racers and enjoy the social aspects & friendly atmosphere of the club.
As long as you can ride a bike without trainer wheels, you can race BMX. Our club caters for everyone no matter what age, male and female, beginner or expert. The emphasis is on fun and skills development.

Explanatory Notes:
Three categories of compulsory membership to BMX Australia (BMXA) are available:
- Open Membership $82 - Allows you to ride at any Club or Open event in Victoria including State and Australian championships, carnivals and events.
- Club Membership $62 – This permit is a cheaper option than the Open/Sprocket membership, but allows riders 8 years and over to compete in clubbies and training events at their home club only. They will NOT be able to compete at any other club or other clubs carnivals. You will also be unable to compete at open events held at your own club.
- Sprocket Rocket Membership $82 – The Sprocket Rocket membership is for any rider under the age of 8. The Sprocket Rocket program is a participation based program, taking the focus from competition to skill based learning programs. This allows children under the age of 8 the opportunity to tune their BMX racing skills in a fun, non-competitive environment.
Upgrade $20 – If you choose to start on a Club Membership you can always upgrade to an Open Membership at any stage for the $20 difference.
No family discounts apply to BMXA membership fees.
All BMXA membership fees are due annually on the anniversary of your Park Orchards BMX Club joining date.

In summary your club membership, BMXA Licence and BMXV membership are all payable at the time of joining. All three payments are collected by the club and the BMXA licence fee and the BMXV membership fee are then forwarded on to the relevant bodies.
On “Club Race Days” an entry fee of $6 per rider is charged. Park Orchards BMX club is a not for profit organisation and all funds and membership fees go back towards the running of the club.
For “Open” race meetings an entry fee ranging from $10 to $25 per rider is usually charged to cover event running cost.
SO HOW DO I GET A LICENCE?
Joining Park Orchards BMX Club is easy, simply come along to one of our clubbies, fill out a few forms and pay your money. You’ll need to bring both a photocopy and original (for sighting) of a “Birth Certificate” or “Passport I.D. page” for each rider wishing to join (this is used by BMXA as a proof of age document for licencing purposes).
Once you have done the paperwork and paid the money, you can race straight away (using the signed green copy of your licence application form as a temporary licence). Your BMX licence card will take up to 6 weeks to be processed and arrive back at the club for collection. Note that riders under 18 years of age must get their paperwork signed by their parent or guardian.
BMX race numbers are allocated by BMX Victoria but you may be able to choose your favourite number if it’s not already taken. Note that numbers from 1 to 20 are generally reserved for special purposes.
